Craig has been working in veterinary practice since 1999.
In January 2016 Dr Molly Varga Smith and Craig helped to set up and run the exotic department at a Veterinary Hospital and Referral Centre, and has worked with a 100% caseload of non-traditional companion animals.
In April 2025, Craig is excited to join Dr Molly Varga Smith, at The Exotic Animal Vets, to continue providing the best care for exotic pets, in the only specialist-led exotic veterinary clinic in the north of England.
Craig has achieved 5 certificate and diploma in the Advanced Program in Veterinary Nursing of Zoo and Exotic Species and has just sat exams for the certificate in Emergency and Critical Care.
Outside of practice Craig worked at the British Veterinary Nursing Association as a council member between 2019 and 2024 where he sat on boards with British Veterinary Association, Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and Animal Behaviour Training Council.
Craig lectures around the country at veterinary conferences and virtually for many CPD companies on all aspects of veterinary nursing of exotic pets, wildlife care, transferable skills and imposter syndrome.
Craig lives with his wife, Jenny. Cats – Pumpkin and Trick. Red foot tortoise – Scutes. Ducks -Lilly MeepMeep and Scovey. Axolotl – Gilly weed, as well as frogs, lizards, tarantulas and an ever-increasing collection of Carnivorous houseplants.
Outside of work Craig enjoys running, cooking, live music, and learning to play the guitar.
